Enjoying the Beauty of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Kaifeng, China

On June 30, the online event themed "New National Trend in Intangible Cultural Heritage" kicked off in Kaifeng, a city in central China's Henan Province.

6月30日晚，河南省“非遗里的新国潮”网络主题宣传活动在开封市开元广场启动。

The evening featured captivating traditional art performances, including pan drum, suona horn, kirin dance, and stone lock demonstrations that deeply engaged the audience. Mr. Wang, a tourist from Qingdao remarked, "It is the first time I have experienced these traditional arts up close, and deeply felt the richness of cultural heritage in Kaifeng."

活动现场，传统艺术表演精彩纷呈。盘鼓、唢呐、麒麟舞、撂石锁等非遗项目逐一登场，观众或坐或站，被非遗的魅力深深吸引。青岛游客王先生说：“这是我第一次这么近距离地欣赏到这些非遗传统艺术，深深感受到了开封文化底蕴的深厚。”

The brightly lit market stalls were creating a vibrant atmosphere. The air was filled with enticing aromas from various delicacies, such as soup dumplings and peanut cakes. Customers eagerly tasted and selected their favorites, adding to the lively scene with laughter and joy.

摊位间，灯火辉煌，五彩斑斓的灯光交织在一起，映照出市集独特的韵味。空气中弥漫着各种美食的香气，从远处的灌汤包到近处的花生糕，香味交织，令人垂涎欲滴。摊位前，顾客们络绎不绝，有的驻足品尝，有的精挑细选，欢声笑语此起彼伏。

In the interactive experience area, citizens enthusiastically participated in hands-on activities. At the Bian embroidery stall, they followed skilled artisans, making beautiful artworks. Children carefully created sugar figures, feeling the allure of traditional culture.

互动体验区更是热闹非凡。在汴绣摊位前，市民们纷纷拿起针线，跟随非遗传承人学习汴绣技艺，一针一线在他们的巧手下变成了精美的艺术品。孩子们则在“马大吹”的指导下学习吹糖人，小心翼翼地吹气、塑形，感受着传统文化的魅力。

Kaifeng, a city with a deep historical and cultural heritage, boasts 339 representative intangible cultural heritage projects at national, provincial, and municipal levels, which include folk literature, traditional arts, skills, medicine, and customs, showcasing the city's rich heritage and distinctive artistic styles.

开封作为历史文化名城，拥有339个涵盖国家级、省级和市级非遗代表性项目。包括民间文学、传统美术、传统技艺、传统医药、民俗等众多门类，地域色彩浓厚，艺术风格鲜明，成为展示开封历史文化底蕴和城市形象的一张亮丽名片。

Since 2023, Kaifeng has launched the event themed "Happy Weekend: Intangible Cultural Heritage Market", blending performances with displays, unique products with vibrant cultural creations, and on-site experiences with online live broadcasts. This initiative held for 42 sessions has revitalized the cultural tourism market, attracting over 5 million citizens and tourists.

2023年以来，开封市创新推出“欢乐周末·非遗市集”活动，将动态展演与静态展示、特色产品与多彩文创、现场体验与线上直播、非遗文化与特色街区结合起来，让群众深切感受开封非遗的深厚底蕴、传统文化的博大精深，为文旅市场发展注入了新的活力。截至目前，该活动已成功举办42期，参加市民和游客达500多万人次。

Additionally, the event will feature various online activities, including lectures by intangible cultural heritage inheritors, art exhibitions, exclusive interviews, live broadcasts, and a knowledge quiz about intangible cultural heritage.
