Jingzhe (the Awakening of Insects) is the third of China's 24 solar terms. According to the Chinese lunar calendar, when Jingzhe arrives, spring thunder rumbles, awakening all creatures that have been dormant throughout the winter. As temperatures rise, animals end their hibernation and the earth comes back to life. Farmers begin planting crops in the fields, hoping for a bountiful harvest. Jingzhe signifies the arrival of spring, bringing increased rainfall and vibrant vitality.
