On the morning of April 1, 2025, the "Light and Shadow Reflecting the Heavenly River: Memories of the Red Flag Canal" themed event for the 60th anniversary of Red Flag Canal's water diversion and Wei Dezhong photography exhibition was launched at Zhengzhou Qilihe Metro Station. By integrating photographic art with metro space, this initiative merges Henan's revolutionary history with urban life, allowing the Red Flag Canal Spirit to resonate with contemporary audiences.

April 5, 2025, marks the 60th anniversary of the Red Flag Canal's main channel completion. In the 1960s, residents of the Linxian County spent a decade hewing this 1,500-km "Man-made Heavenly River" in the Taihang Mountains, forging the Red Flag Canal Spirit of "Self-reliance, Hard Work, Unity, and Selfless Dedication". To honor this heritage, the exhibition features the veteran Henan Daily photojournalist Wei Dezhong's decade-long documentary works, including the famous "Splitting Cliffs with Giant Axes" and "Dangling Mid-Air to Secure the Canal". These monumental black-and-white images freeze the moments of laborers chiseling rocks and diverting rivers, offering commuters a poignant encounter with history.
