After nearly two years of construction, the Pingliangtai National Archaeological Site Museum in Huaiyang district of Zhoukou city, Central China's Henan province, has commenced trial operation recently. Pingliangtai, hailed as the "Dawn of Urban Civilization in China", belongs to the late Longshan Culture. The museum's main building sits directly on the archaeological site, showcasing the 4,000-year history and culture of Pingliangtai.

经过近2年的建设，近日，周口市淮阳区平粮台古城国家考古遗址博物馆进入试运营阶段。平粮台古城国家考古遗址作为龙山文化晚期的代表性城址，被誉为“中国城市文明的曙光”。平粮台古城国家考古遗址博物馆主体建筑依遗址而建。它的开放，正式向公众系统展示其跨越4000年的历史积淀与文化魅力。　

According to Deng Yunhong, director of the Pingliangtai Protection Center and the Pingliangtai National Archaeological Site Museum, "The construction of the Pingliangtai National Archaeological Site Park was approved in 2022, with an area of 2,400 mu (1.6 million square meters) and an investment of 1.6 billion yuan. The project consists of 3 phases. Phase I, covering the museum, square, parking lot and exhibition, has been completed. We present not just artifacts, but the story of the earliest forms of statehood in Chinese civilization."

淮阳区平粮台大遗址保护中心主任、平粮台古城遗址博物馆馆长邓运洪介绍：“平粮台古城国家考古遗址公园2022年立项，规划总占地面积2400亩，计划总投资 16亿元，拟分三期实施，其中一期博物馆、广场、停车场及陈列布展已基本完成。我们不仅是在展示文物，更是在讲述中华文明早期国家形成的故事。”

With an investment of more than 90 million yuan, the Pingliangtai National Archaeological Site Museum covers 17,606 square meters. Its design blends modern and traditional elements, aiming to create harmony with the surrounding landscape. During the trial operation, cultural relics such as pottery, jade artifacts, and bronze wares will be on display. In addition, the museum will present Pingliangtai's layout, daily life, and the development of handicrafts through modern exhibition methods, including sand-table models, multimedia presentations, and scene reconstructions.

平粮台古城国家考古遗址博物馆总投资9000多万元，建筑面积17606平方米，设计融合传统与现代元素，力图与周边历史环境和谐共生。试运营期间，馆内将有序开放基本陈列区与临时展览空间，展出陶器、玉器、青铜器等珍贵文物，并结合沙盘、多媒体互动、场景复原等现代化展陈手段，生动呈现古城布局、先民生活、手工业发展等历史画面。

The Pingliangtai site, one of the earliest known city sites in China, features a clear central axis, high-platform buildings, and a well-preserved urban drainage system, providing important evidence for the study of ancient Chinese urban planning. The trial operation aims to optimize visitor flow and test service facilities, laying the groundwork for full opening in the future.
