Mengjin Yellow River Wetland welcomes flock of first-protected birds

大鸨、黑鹳、青头潜鸭……孟津黄河湿地迎来大批“一级客人”

A flock of 33 great bustards, a top-level protected species, was spotted at the Yellow River Wetland Reserve in Mengjin district of Luoyang city, Central China's Henan province, the largest flock ever recorded in recent years.

近日，孟津黄河湿地保护区科研监测人员在鸟类监测工作中惊喜地发现33只珍稀物种大鸨。根据介绍，这也是近年来发现大鸨数量最多的一次。

Despite a rapid global decline that has led to its disappearance from some countries in Europe and North Africa, the great bustard also classified as an endangered species in China has found a reliable haven. The species has been wintering at the Mengjin Yellow River Wetland Reserve for consecutive years, becoming a regular presence there.

大鸨在世界范围内的种群数量处于快速下降趋势，在欧洲和非洲北部的许多国家都已经消失了，中国的种群数量现在也已变得相当稀少，属于濒危鸟种。该物种已连续多年在此越冬，成为湿地的“常客”。

The black stork, a first-level protected species in China, has also become a regular sight at the Mengjin Yellow River Wetland Reserve. So far, only about 200 black storks have been recorded in Henan, nearly half of which winter at this reserve, with 73 observed this year.

另一种国家一级重点保护野生动物黑鹳，也已经成为孟津黄河湿地的“常客”。黑鹳在河南省仅有200只左右，其中一小半就在孟津黄河湿地越冬。据了解，今年来这里越冬的黑鹳数量为73只。

In recent years, Mengjin has stepped up efforts to protect and restore its ecological environment, with an increasing number of species wintering at the reserve as a result. To date, more than 150,000 birds representing 331 species have been recorded at the reserve, making it an important stopover and habitat on their migratory across route.

近年来，随着孟津区不断加大生态保护和修复力度，黄河湿地生态环境持续向好，到此栖息的鸟类种类和数量逐年增加。目前保护区共记录到鸟类331种，鸟类数量达15万余只，已成为候鸟迁徙通道上的重要驿站和栖息地。（中文来源：大河网 编译：杨佳欣 审校：陈行洁 赵汉青）
