The fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body, will open in Beijing on Wednesday. The formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan for the period from 2026 to 2030 will be a central focus of the session, as around 2,100 members gather to discuss the draft outline of the crucial blueprint for China's socio-economic development.

The decision was approved at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee held on Sunday.

According to the proposed agenda, political advisers will hear and deliberate on a report on the work of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and a report on how proposals have been handled since the previous annual session.

Members will also sit in on the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress, the country's top legislative body, as non-voting delegates to listen to and discuss the Government Work Report and other relevant reports. Their discussions will provide vital input on the country's major policies and the strategic goals.

A news conference on the session is scheduled for 3 pm on Tuesday at the Great Hall of the People. Liu Jieyi, spokesman for the session, will brief the media on the session's preparations and answer questions from domestic and foreign journalists.
