China is bolstering efforts to radiate the country's high-tech to partner countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote the "going global" and "bringing in" of education, science and technology, and talents.
Nearly 100 international university teachers, students, and young scholars from Thailand, Malaysia, and some other countries participated in or will participate in three themed camps:
The International Summer Camp for New and Renewable Energy and the "Huachuang Spark" Intelligent Manufacturing Technology International Summer School, which opened on July 9, and the Sino-Thai New Energy Materials Internship Camp, which will open on July 17.
They are part of the Global HQU (Huaqiao University) Inbound Program 2026 CSC (Chinese Government Scholarships) International Summer School, which held an opening ceremony at the HQU Xiamen campus.
The International Summer Camp for New and Renewable Energy aims to focus on green and low-carbon transformation and share China's experience in new energy technology.
During a 14-day study tour, 22 students from Thailand Agricultural University will attend 13 academic lectures covering topics such as catalytic technology, biomass energy, and low-carbon practices. The students will also visit the forefront of China's new energy industry.
Meanwhile, the "Huachuang Spark" Intelligent Manufacturing Technology International Summer School will adhere to the theme of intelligent manufacturing, showcasing the upgrading path of Chinese manufacturing. Nearly 20 international students will learn practical skills such as 3D printing, PLC programming, and intelligent car assembly, and visit Chinese intelligent manufacturing benchmark enterprises.
Furthermore, the Sino-Thai New Energy Materials Internship Camp will cover the field of new energy materials, enhancing connection between Chinese and Thai scientific research talents. Between July 17 and 31, 30 teachers and students from Thailand's Chulalongkorn University will conduct systematic learning and experimental operations in areas such as solar cells, energy storage materials, and light-emitting display technology, and visit leading enterprises such as CATL.
Tanakorn Taechapeetigul, a student representative from Thailand Agricultural University, said: "As students, we often focus on acquiring academic knowledge, but this program reminds us that international communication is equally important. It teaches us communication, teamwork, cultural trust, and international friendship. These abilities will accompany us throughout our lives."
It has been learned that the three themed camps — which will be closed from July 20 to 31 — are not only a technological feast, but also carry the deep mission of uniting the hearts and strength of overseas Chinese and enhancing Sino-foreign friendship.
With this summer school as an opportunity, Huaqiao University will continue to give play to its disciplinary advantages and characteristics, promote the radiation and extension of China's high-tech to BRI partner countries, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, and contribute to education for building a community with a shared future for mankind.
