For Central China's Henan province, how to build itself into a strong province in modern agriculture? The Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and Vision 2035 of Henan Province has mapped out a clear path, pointing out that accelerating the development of modern seed industry is one of the effective ways to achieve this goal.
河南将如何加快建设现代农业强省？《河南省“十四五”规划和2035年远景目标纲要》提出，“十四五”期间，河南将把加快发展现代种业作为建设现代农业强省的实现路径之一。
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Henan will strengthen the protection and utilization of germplasm resources, accelerate the building of germplasm resource banks, and establish and improve a platform for identifying and evaluating germplasm resources and exploring excellent genes. Meanwhile, Henan will carry out the provincial project for upgrading the modern seed industry, strengthen the building of improved seed breeding and southern breeding bases, and optimize the breeding system of good seeds. Besides, Henan will build a national biological breeding innovation center, and build a new highland leading global biological breeding innovation, a "test field" for developing the system and mechanism of the seed industry in our country, and an aircraft carrier of seed industry with international competitiveness.
首先，“十四五”期间，河南将加强种质资源保护和利用，加快种质资源库建设，建立完善种质资源鉴定评价、优异基因挖掘平台。其次，实施省级现代种业提升工程，加强良种繁育和南繁基地建设，优化良种繁育体系。同时，建成国家生物育种产业创新中心，打造全球生物育种创新引领型新高地、全国种业发展体制机制创新的“试验田”和具有国际竞争力的种业航母集群。
It is worth noting that focusing on crops, cash crops, forests, fruits, flowers and plants, and major livestock and poultry, Henan will carry out innovation of germplasm resources, cultivation of new varieties, and cooperate to make the breakthrough in key technology. Besides, Henan will foster large-scale integrated enterprises for breeding, reproduction and promotion, and accelerate the promotion of commercial breeding, the promotion and the industrialized application of new varieties. Meanwhile, supervision of the safety of the seed industry must be strengthened, and monitoring of the quality and safety of seeds and information supervision should be improved.
不仅如此，河南还将以农作物、经济作物、林果花草和主要畜禽为重点，开展种质资源创新、新品种培育、“卡脖子”关键技术联合攻关，培育大型育繁推一体化企业，加快推进商业化育种、新品种推广和产业化应用，并加强种业安全监管，完善种子质量安全监测、信息化监管等种业体系。（杨佳欣 何蒙贺）
