Over the past decade, Henan has been focusing on building a strong cultural province and dedicating to telling the stories of the Yellow River to the outside world through the integration of culture, tourism and creative industries under the general theme of "Henan, the Cradle of China". So far, Henan has 14 items listed among China's 100 Major Archaeological Discoveries in Last Century and 50 selected into the annual list of China's Top10 New Archaeological Discoveries since 1990, both ranking first in China. Besides, the Grand Canal (Henan section), the Silk Road (Henan section), the 24 Solar Terms and Tai Chi have been listed as world heritages by UNESCO. It is worth noting that the added value of Henan's cultural and related industries increased from 67 billion yuan in 2012 to 220.299 billion yuan in 2020, accounting for 4.06 percent of GDP, up 1.8 percent. That is to say, the cultural industry is becoming a new driver of the province's economic growth.
这十年，河南聚焦建设文化强省，以实施文旅文创融合战略为总抓手，以“行走河南·读懂中国”为牵引，讲好“黄河故事”。“百年百大考古发现”入选14项、全国十大考古新发现入选50项，数量均居全国首位，大运河、丝绸之路河南段和二十四节气、太极拳成功申遗，兴文化工程稳步推进。全省文化及相关产业增加值由2012年的670亿元增加到2020年的2202.99亿元，占同期GDP比重由2.26%提高到4.06%，文化产业正在成为经济增长的新动能。
Over the past decade, Henan's archaeological achievements have provided important evidence for various key periods in the origin of Chinese civilization. At present, it is basically confirmed that the late Yangshao Culture represented by the Shuanghuaishu site in Gongyi city around 5,300 years ago is the preliminary form of civilization. Besides, the Erlitou site in Luoyang city can be basically identified as the capital of the late Xia Dynasty about 3,800 years ago. From this period on, a more mature civilization took shape in the Central Plains, making the Central Plains the core and leader of the overall process of Chinese civilization.
同时，河南省考古成果实证了中华文明起源过程中的各个重要时空节点。通过综合研究，目前已基本可以认定距今5300年前后，以巩义双槐树遗址群为代表的仰韶晚期文化为初步意义上的文明形态。距今3800年前后，偃师二里头遗址已基本可以确定为夏王朝晚期的都城遗址。从这一时期开始，中原地区形成了更为成熟的文明形态，成为中华文明总进程的核心与引领者。
